4 Easy Steps (English)

Parents, teachers, and trainers play a crucial role in shaping children's money habits, and music is a simple yet effective way to both educate and engage young minds on this vital topic. With that in mind, anyone can use these four easy steps to start teaching kids the importance of saving money today!

Have kids:

Listen to the song Get in the Habit.
Read lyrics to the song Get in the Habit.
Discuss the song and lyrics. Start with these questions to catalyze a conversation:
Did you like the song? What did you like best about it?
Encourage kids to share their thoughts about the song’s melody, rhythm, or message. Maybe they liked how catchy it was, or how it made them feel excited about saving.
What are your favorite lyrics in the song?
Ask them to pick a line that stood out to them. Maybe it's a part that made them smile, a line that reminded them of a real-life experience, or a lyric that inspired them.
Wouldn't it be fun to get in the habit of saving and watch our money grow?
Make this idea relatable! Talk about how saving is like planting a seed that grows into something amazing.
Imagine all of the things you might do with your savings. What would you do first?
Have them think about something they would love to save for—maybe a new toy, a special trip, or even giving to a cause they care about.
How long do you think it might take to save enough money to reach that goal?
This is a great opportunity to introduce goal setting! Help them think about how much money they might need and how they can break it down into smaller, achievable steps.
Start a family tradition and routine – Make a deposit into a piggy bank, savings jar or a savings account at the financial institution of your choice. Repeat weekly.
