We've reached the midpoint of the month. We're 4% into the new year. It is a wonderful day to check in and check up on progress. To raise a financially responsible and successful child, you want teach them to learn to monitor and assess their progress in saving, managing money, and goal attainment.

Today's question might be something like:

  • How is everything going with your 2024 savings goal?

If your child or children engage with today's question, here are five follow-up questions a parent might ask their child:

  1. I'm curious, how are you keeping track of your progress?

  2. Do you have a special way of figuring out where you stand on your savings adventure?

  3. Have you faced any challenges so far?

  4. Have you've discovered anything yet that makes saving money toward your goal easier or more fun?

  5. Have you thought about ideas on how to earn extra money to save more?

  6. Are there any friends or family members who are also saving money that you might share tips with and encourage each other to reach your savings goals?

  8. Are there any new things you've learned about money and saving that you find interesting or surprising?
