Patrina Dixon leads a Dream Big Read Aloud event

2019's first Sammy Rabbit Dream Big Financial Education Read Aloud was an awe-inspiring success thanks to the leadership of It'$ My Money Founder, Patrina Dixon and Women United for United Way.

The Read Aloud took place at Sanchez Elementary in Hartford, Connecticut as part of an after-school program.

Yesterday, I and other women from United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut Women United for United Way visited the Maria Sanchez school in Hartford to read “Sammy’s Big Dream” to these fantastic kids in the photo. Our mission is to help kids learn to read, have a love of reading and gain financial literacy. ❤️💵💰

As you can see on our coloring sheets, my kids and I had fun with hearts. One of the boys showed me a heart he drew which inspired me to draw a couple on my page. That started a ripple effect and the girls had me busy drawing them on their sheets.

There is power and far-reaching benefits of love. Even in the simple action of drawing the symbol on a piece of paper, the joy and love we shared in the moment of craft time will stick with me for days. I can’t wait to go back again next month for another Women United Read Aloud.
