About The Initiative
Bedtime Songs and Stories That Teach Children Great Money Habits Before They Fall Asleep! is a first-of-its-kind financial education program launching as a separate, yet complementary, initiative to SammyRabbit.com.
Created by award-winning financial educator Sam X Renick, the 52-week program will provide parents with simple, ready-to-use learning tools that strengthen the bond between parent and child while planting the seeds of financial security and independence early, ensuring children wake up to a world where they feel capable and in control of their own dreams. (Click here to listen to the first of our featured songs and experience the magic for yourself!)
These experiences are crafted to be seamless rituals of connection—quiet, captivating, and simple to sustain. By weaving these themes into the evening wind-down, money becomes a natural, stress-free part of a child’s world, building the foundations for lifelong financial well-being and a healthy relationship with wealth that grows alongside them.
Did You Know? The "Golden Hour" of Learning
As your child winds down for sleep, their brain shifts into a relaxed Alpha state. In this unique window, the mind moves away from the distractions of the day and becomes highly receptive to new ideas and emotional anchoring.
By introducing money through soothing songs and stories during this time, we leverage the brain's natural neuroplasticity. Instead of a "math lesson," financial concepts are absorbed as positive, comforting values. This ensures that the last thoughts your child carries into sleep are ones of security, capability, and confidence.
What Families Receive Each Week
Every week, a 4-Part Parent Kit arrives in your inbox, providing everything you need to turn everyday moments into meaningful lessons. Each kit includes:
A Featured Song: Catchy, age-appropriate melodies designed to make financial concepts "stick" through the power of music.
Includes: High-quality Audio File + High-Engagement Read-Along Lyric Video.
A Parent Guide: Your "cheat sheet" for meaningful conversation. This guide includes full song lyrics so you can sing along, plus no-stress prompts to help you navigate "money talk" with confidence.
Includes: Quick-Reference PDF.
A Bedtime Story: A gentle narrative that reinforces the week’s theme, perfect for cozying up at the end of the day.
Includes: Downloadable PDF + Interactive Digital Storybook.
A Family Activity Guide: "Low-prep, high-impact" ideas to bring the week’s lesson to life during your normal daily routine.
Includes: Printable Activity PDF + Links to Online Interactive Games.
And that’s not all. Throughout the year, families will also receive occasional motivational and momentum-building messages from the author, along with access to bonus content, such as activities, drawings, and prizes designed to keep the learning journey fun, engaging, and rewarding.
More than a collection of songs and stories, this initiative is a movement to bring families together and support meaningful conversations about money, values, and choices that inspire and empower families to build a better, brighter future for generations to come.

Part 2: Short Bedtime Story
Bedtime Story for the song Follow the Money Rules: The Night the Rules Made Sense
a) Digital File: TBD
b) Print File (PDF)
The Night the Rules Made Sense
A child was almost ready for bed when they remembered the shiny toy they had seen earlier that day.
They had enough money to buy it.
They also knew they were saving for something bigger.
So they sat quietly on the bed and thought for a moment.
That’s when they remembered something they had heard before—money rules.
Not rules that tell you what you can’t do.
Rules that help you choose what’s best.
They thought about the rules one by one.
Use money wisely.
Save money.
Spend smart.
Have a plan.
There was no rush.
There was no worry.
Instead, there was a calm feeling.
They realized that following the money rules meant they could do more of the things they wanted to do, not just today, but later too.
So they made a choice.
They put their money back in its safe place and smiled.
They weren’t giving something up.
They were choosing something better.
As they climbed under the covers, they felt proud.
Following the money rules wasn’t hard.
It was a habit.
And the right habits help dreams grow.
With that thought, they closed their eyes—already dreaming about what their money would help them do next.
Part 3: Parent Guide
Instructions
After listening to the song and reading the story, choose one or more questions to ask your child or students.
a) Parent Discussion Prompts
1. Goal-Oriented Question
“Is there something you’d like to save your money for instead of buying something right away?”
(If your child answers quickly, let it be. If they don’t, that’s okay too.)
2. Logical Question
“What do you think happens when we follow money rules?”
You can gently reflect back what they say:
“So the money lasts longer.”
“So we can buy bigger things later.”
3. Emotional Question
“How do you think it felt to make a smart money choice?”
If your child struggles, you can offer choices:
“Proud?”
“Calm?”
“Happy?”
b) Parent Tip(s)
Keep it light. The goal this week isn’t understanding every money rule, it’s noticing that rules can help us feel calm and confident when we make choices.
Introducing money language early, and repeating it often, helps learning grow over time. Repeating the song and story during the week matters more than explaining them, helping children hear, understand, and feel comfortable talking about money.
c) Bedtime Whisper and Affirmation
“You’re learning how to make smart money choices, one habit at a time.”
d) Parent Reflection
You don’t need to write this down—just notice:
Did your child pause before answering?
Did they name a goal?
Did they express a feeling?
Those moments mean the habit is starting.
Part 4: Family Activity Guide
Use one or more of the following activities or create your own in whatever rhythm works best for your family. There’s no rush. Daily, bi-daily, or weekly all work.
Experience 1
Listen to the featured song, read the bedtime story, and discuss one question from the Parent Discussion Prompts.
Experience 2
Ask your child if they’d like to hear the song or story again. Ask what stood out to them. Share what stood out to you.
Experience 3
Repeat the song or story not used on Day 2. Discuss favorite parts together.
Experience 4
Have your child begin drawing a poster or writing a list of the 12 money rules. Display it in a place they’ll see often.
Experience 5
Read the song lyrics together. Choose three words or lines that feel important and discuss why.
Experience 6
Read the story again and repeat the word-or-sentence activity.
Experience 7
Create a family savings tradition. Make a small deposit into a piggy bank or savings account. Celebrate and share a money lesson from your own childhood.

Meet the Creator: Sam X Renick
Sam X Renick is an award-winning financial literacy pioneer, author, songwriter, and social entrepreneur whose life’s work is dedicated to helping children and families build the great money habits that lead to brighter futures. He is the founder of SammyRabbit.com and the creator of the beloved educational character Sammy Rabbit, the face of a global mission to make financial education fun, engaging, and accessible to all.
Sam’s journey into early-age financial education began in 2001 with the launch of his first book, It’s a Habit, Sammy Rabbit!, which went on to win the 2008 Excellence in Financial Literacy Education (EIFLE) Institutional Book of the Year Award.
The spark for his mission came during his career as a financial advisor, where he frequently listened to adults express deep regret over not learning essential money skills during their youth. Driven by the belief that "Great habits give all kids a better and brighter future," Sam transitioned from managing wealth to building it at the foundational level: the family unit.
Since then, the Sammy Rabbit universe has grown into one of the world’s largest resource libraries for financial literacy, featuring a rich collection of books, songs, and activities including: Sammy’s Big Dream, Get in the Habit, Dream Big Journaling, etc.
Sam’s impact is truly global; he has personally engaged with more than a quarter-million children across eight countries and 40 U.S. states. Whether he is reading a story or "singing off-key" (as he famously jokes) to a gym full of enthusiastic students, Sam’s unique blend of joyful presentation and expert insight has earned him top industry honors. These include the National Financial Educators Council (NFEC) Financial Educator of the Year Award and the New Jersey Coalition for Financial Education’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
A sought-after speaker and media contributor, Sam has been featured by CNN, NPR, The New York Times, Kiplinger, and MSN Money. Through Sammy Rabbit’s Money School, he continues to develop innovative tools that make financial confidence easy to learn and empowering for all ages.
Now, Sam is proud to introduce a new initiative and complementary enterprise designed to bring these lessons into the heart of the home: Bedtime Songs and Stories that Teach Children Great Money Habits Before They Fall Asleep!

Classroom Songs and Stories: Teaching Kids Great Money Habits
Designed specifically for teachers, this standards-aligned program brings the same engaging songs, short stories, and habit-first approach into the classroom. The format supports morning meetings, literacy blocks, social-emotional learning time, and short financial education mini-lessons that are easy to implement and repeat.
Just like the bedtime experience, the classroom series focuses on helping children become comfortable hearing, speaking, and practicing positive money language — because strong habits are built through consistent exposure, repetition, and encouragement.
