About Barbara
Barbara Boustead is a Clinical Social Worker, daily money manager, and author. She is the Founder of Mary’s Daughter where she assists older adults and veterans with their financial organization.
In December 2020, Barbara published her first book, From 50 to Fabulous: Pivoting to a Life of Joy and Purpose which she wrote as a legacy for her family and also to share life experiences and lessons learned.
In Her Own Words
I remember having a large empty plastic container where I put in my extra coins which I planned to use to buy small treats for my daughters when they were young.
Finances were tight and I didn't have much leftover after bills were paid.
My "aha" moment came when I decided to re-name my "Rainy day fund" with a yellow-colored label "Sunshine fund".
My spirits lifted immediately and I began feeling gratitude for the few coins I had, and not the money I didn't.
It was a mindset shift that changed me from that day on.
I am truly blessed and grateful for what I do have and I know that mindset shift was key.
