Northern Santa Barbara County United Way Dream Big with Sammy Rabbit!

Let’s End Financial Illiteracy

We are pleased to announce our collaboration with Northern Santa Barbara County United Way (NSBC-UW) to make financial education resources and programs more available and accessible to children and families in the area.

It is inspiring to work with an enterprise that prioritizes financial stability and places an emphasis on early age and family financial education, especially for those most in need.

NSBC-UW shares on its website: “We are Partners in Change, improving people’s lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities… Our community is our dream team!”

Oh Yeh. It Is On!

Sammy Rabbit and author Sam X Renick meet with United Way CEOs Rick London and Eddie Taylor of San Luis Obispo and Northern Santa Barbara County to celebrate the launch of early age financial literacy education programs in each community.

This picture is taken in front of Olga Reed Elementary School in Los Alamos California. It will be the site of the first pilot test.

The goal for Northern Santa Barbara County is to reach, educate and open matching savings accounts for 1,000 kids over the next 3 years!

United Way believes the literacy 2.0 effort will change the lives of thousands of individuals and families as we go to scale.

The collaborative strategy combines literacy and financial education and will consist of the following components:

—Providing kids from birth to age 5 books from the Dolly Parton Imagination Library

—Providing elementary age kids with Sammy Rabbit financial education programs

—Matched savings incentives

—The Ready4K, family engagement program provides parents with weekly teaching tips via text messaging so that they are better able to help their kids build great reading and money habits.
