Armed Forces Network Reports on Financial Education Program for Military Families
by Team Sammy
Supporting Military Families Through Education
The armed forces take financial literacy seriously. Financial education is a military priority and a key component of mission readiness.
Team Sammy first discovered this through our work with the Air Force Aid Society—a collaboration that eventually extended to the Department of Defense. We learned that Accredited Financial Counselors® stationed at Family Readiness Centers on Air Force, Army, Navy, and Marine bases around the world play a crucial role in ensuring military families receive high-quality financial guidance. These counselors are dedicated, experienced money management professionals who conduct financial education programs year-round, including during Military Saves Week. They make sure financial literacy resources and tools are accessible to the entire family unit, empowering them to make informed, confident financial decisions.
Base efforts are further supported and supplemented by nonprofit organizations such as the Air Force Aid Society, Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, and Army Emergency Relief. These organizations enhance on-base financial education and offer a variety of financial assistance programs to help families navigate emergencies and other challenges—such as childcare costs and education expenses.
Team Sammy is proud to play a small role in supporting these important financial literacy and education efforts. Below, check out some of the incredible programs we've had the honor of participating in.
