I'm pleased to share Abound Credit Union and Sammy Rabbit's collaboration to bring financial education experiences and resources to credit union members and local communities in Radcliff, Elizabethtown and Fort Knox Kentucky!
Oh yeh!
"For us, part of the mission of the board of directors is to provide financial education in every community that we serve, and this is really an extension of that mission,” said Ray Springsteen, Abound Credit Union CEO and President. “No matter what the age, there is some value in getting a reminder about money habits."
I am delighted to share the 4 part strategy delivered powerful impact throughout Elizabethtown - Radcliff Kentucky and beyond!
PART 1 - FINANCIAL EDUCATION EXPERIENCES FOR SCHOOLS
Live, "in school" financial education experiences imparted a wealth of knowledge and joy at Woodland Elementary, Heartland Elementary, Radcliff Elementary, and Fort Knox Middle High School in the Hardin County School District.
The News-Enterprise in Elizabethtown reported on the kickoff event at Woodland Elementary and shared, first-grader William Porter learned “saving money is good!”

The unique, interactive financial education experiences featured Sammy Rabbit, children's author Sam X Renick and loads of energetic and enthusiastic volunteers from Abound Credit Union.
Students were provided an author reading, sing-a-longs, interactive skits, and a question and answer session that focused on sharing with them why and how reading, writing, goal setting and saving money are great habits that can help them make their big dreams come true!
PART 2 - FINANCIAL EDUCATION PRSENTATION FOR PARENTS AND CREDIT UNION MEMBERS
The second part of the strategy consisted of a presentation to Abound Credit Union Members from award winning financial literacy educator and children's author Sam X Renick.
Sam shared with members and the adult audience why financial literacy education is important; why their investment in financial education throughout their community was praiseworthy and vital to kids and families; and some tips on teaching young kids to develop great money habits early int heir lives.
PART 3 - FINANCIAL EDUCATION RESOUCES
The third part of the strategy consisted of providing parents, grandparents, teachers, and community leaders with resources to make it easy for them to immediately begin talking to and teaching their kids and students about great money habits.
PART 4 - AWARENESS CAMPAIGN
The fourth part of the strategy consisted of both a traditional and social media campaign to share the importance of:
(a) early age and family financial literacy
(b) getting in the habit of saving
(c) opening a credit union account and get kids saving!
