Recount or describe key ideas or details from a text read aloud or information presented orally or through other media.
a. Give and follow two or three or four step oral directions.
Describe Sammy’s plan to obtain his goal using evidence from the text and illustrations from the story. This assignment can be done in small groups and then presented orally to classmates.
Students will be able to follow multi-step directions.

Teacher makes a connection to Sammy’s Big Dream!
Teacher may share directly from book or share a personal story.
Teacher will model recounting and taking details from the first two or three pages of the book.
Students will pair share read pages 4 through 6. Then, the will recount the key details.
Then repeat and continue through the book. Or have different pairs read various sections of book
Teacher observation or have students illustrate a key detail or have them write a paragraph summarizing a key detail from story.
