PANDEMIC AMPLIFIES MESSAGE OF FINANCIAL LITERACY MONTH

Pandemic Amplifies Message of Financial Literacy Month
Think Advisor by Aimee DeCamillo

This alerts everyone, we WANT to view this crisis as an opportunity – an opportunity to deliver financial education on healthy financial HABITS right now, while the iron is hot! Right now – while people’s hearts and minds may be uniquely open to listening and learning.

Here is a short excerpt I find on point.

When families begin talking openly about money, it breaks the unfortunate cycle of financial talk being taboo at home and opens the door to generational change in support of good money behaviors — and research shows that what we learn about money as kids becomes what we think is normal as adults — good or bad.

THE 7 BEST PREPAID DEBIT CARDS

This week I had a short communication with Mastercard Vice President of Community Relations, Mercedes Eggleton-Garcia. She shared some thinking with me that both resonated and peaked my curiosity: (1) Prepaid Debit Cards are Better than Cash and (2) Social distancing and other preventative measures have impacted the way consume and handle daily financial transactions! In today’s virtual, online world, her guidance seems extraordinarily timely. So, I did some research and here are a few good articles I discovered on the subject.

FYI 1. On its site, Mastercard offers a short tutorial on How Prepaid Cards Work!

Remember, Sammy Says …Leaders are readers. Always be learning. Compound your knowledge and skills. Compare, contrast and ask questions – that is what critical thinkers and smart consumers do.
