I initially became aware of the Rotary and the wonderful work it does in my twenties. I was introduced to them by Leo Trujillo. Leo was my first boss at TRW in Redondo Beach, California. He was an executive at the Fortune 100 aerospace and development company and a retired Navy Captain. Leo was all about service to others. He lived the Rotary motto, "Service Above Self." Leo worked enthusiastically and tirelessly, volunteering and taking leadership roles in a wide array of organizations to support causes he loved and believed in from community-based education enterprises, to the Benedictine nuns, to military charities.
After leaving TRW I discovered there were many other leaders who shared Leo’s passion for the Rotary like Art Resendez, Dr. Martha Sanchez, and Devin Thorpe. They came from diverse work backgrounds. Self-employment. Retirement. Small business. Large business. Education. Non-profits. Faith-based. Government. What they all had in common and connected them was they made service to others a priority in their lives. Through the Rotary, you can find over one million people like these in more than 103 countries.
Just a few short months ago, I was introduced to one of these one million exemplary individuals and Rotarians, Tony Nevarez. Tony is the president of the Covina Rotary Club in Covina, CA. He is also a small business owner and founder of 1 Tax Pro, Inc. It is an enterprise he started nearly 25 years ago in 1994. Tony and his 1 Tax Pro team serve clients tax and business needs nationwide. And, they do and contribute more. They are actively committed to giving back on a local and national level. They do it through the Rotary and other organizations including the YWCA, Tournament of Roses, St. Jude, faith-based organizations, and schools.
Today we are filled with gratitude and joy to introduce you to Tony. We want to thank him and his team for their contributions to communities around the world and for adopting Sammy Rabbit's Dream Big Financial Literacy Education as a part of their outreach efforts.
