On Friday, May 26, the Weingart East Los Angeles YMCA (WELA Y) kicked off a new financial literacy and goal setting program called Sammy Rabbit's Dream Big Read.
The innovative and adaptable program will offer financial education classes and experiences throughout the summer and fall for all Y members, including those as young as four years old.
A basic Dream Big Read experience includes a reading of the storybook Sammy's Big Dream and a discussion around two questions:
- What is your bring dream?
- And, are you willing to get in the habit of saving to help prepare and position yourself to make your big dream come true?
The basic experience can be adapted and added to in a variety of ways that include singing, dancing, activities, arts, crafts and more.
